I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks

The common Daisy or Marguerite flowers are beautiful examples which demonstrate how the Fibonacci sequence and/or the Golden Mean (Phi, 1.618…) appear in nature. The Fibonacci sequence and the Golden Mean Ratio are similar but aren’t quite the same thing, and as Michael Schneider so aptly states, “…it’s their accumulative process which funnels their ratios towards Phi.” To find the Fibonacci sequence you add the sum to the previous number - it goes like this, 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144...and so on. Divide 144 into 89 (the previous number) and you will get 1.617…which is close to Phi, 1.618, but never quite reaches it. Most common daisies have 21 and 34 petals. The yellow daisy has 13 petals, English daisy/Asters – 21 petals, Oxeye daisy – 34 petals, and Coral Gerber/Michaelmas Daisy – 55/89 petals to name a few.

Judy Chapman received her BA in Art Education from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colorado, in 1979 and has 10 years’ experience teaching high school art in Wyoming and now resides in Yelm, Washington. For the past 10 years, her passion has been drawing sacred geometry patterns and creating sacred geometry constructions using the basic tools of the geometer; the compass, pencil and straightedge. With a background in art, it seemed only natural to combine this new form of study, sacred geometry, with an artistic expression.
